Chandigarh, July 19, 2017: Haryana Chief Minister, Manohar Lal, has said that safe foodgrain storage is what the country needs, and corporations like warehousing, should step up their activities by enhancing their network in a scientific manner. With this, warehousing corporations would not only earn more profit by increasing business but also ensure safety of food grains.
The Chief Minister said this while receiving a cheque for Rs 1,72,68,916 from the Agriculture and Farmer’s Welfare Minister, Om Parkash Dhankar, here today. The cheque was presented by the Haryana State Warehousing Corporation as dividend at the rate of 15 per cent of the profit after tax made in financial year 2015-16. The corporation operated 112 warehouses in the state with average storage capacity of 17.12 lakh metric tonnes at 74 per cent utilization in 2016-17. During the year, the turnover of the corporation was Rs 2,724.68 crore. The Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Nayab Singh Saini, Chairman, Haryana State Warehousing Corporation, Shriniwas Goyal, and Managing Director, Brijendra Singh, were also present on this occasion.
