NGT directs UP SEIAA to explain how EC was given for sand mining over faulty geo-coordinates among others

The National Green Tribunal (NGT) had asked State Environment Impact Assessment Authority or SEIAA as well as DM Bulandshahar to explain with regard to a petition as to how environmental clearance for sand mining was given by the SEIAA despite two major objections by the petitioner. These are: public hearing was held on 23.10.2018 and the EIA report was filed on 19.02.2020 and, how the geo-coordinates mentioned by the District Magistrate in the letter dated 23.07.2020 do not match with those mentioned by the project proponent in the EIA. The map is flawed on account of which demarcation could not be done, it was alleged.
