Ganga water supply to G’bad & Noida likely to resume by Nov. 21

Due to Chatth Puja water meant for trans-Hindon colonies has been diverted to Hindon, say officials

People living in trans-Hindon might have to wait till November 21 for their quota of Ganga water supply. The reason for this is that the water from the Upper Ganga Canal (Gang Nahar) has been diverted to the Hindon River for Chatth Puja. The canal supplies Ganga water to Vasundhara Zone of Ghaziabad Nagar Nigam (GNN) and GDA colonies like Indirapuram, as well as several high-rises of Noida.

According to Irrigation Department Executive Engineer, NK Lamba, “It will probably take another 36-48 hrs for Ganga water to reach the treatment plants of Pratap Vihar and Siddhartha Vihar in full flow. He said that around 4,500 cusecs of water has been released so far in the canal as water has been diverted to the Hindon for Chatth.

GNN JE Somendra Tomar also confirmed that Ganga water supply is likely to be operational only by Nov. 21. reporter
