Complainant urges IIMC to withhold candidature of a teaching staff member on account of matter being sub-judice

Activist Sushil Raghav has sent a written complaint to Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) and one to PMO against the candidature of Rajesh Kumar for the coveted post of professor at IIMC New Delhi. The complaint alleges that the eligibility of Rajesh Kumar as associate professor of mass communication at Doon University had been challenged in Uttarakhand HC in Nainital and the matter is sub-judice. On account of the matter under consideration, where the HC had set up a committee to decide upon the validity of PhD degree of Kumar, the appointment to IIMC should not be done, said Raghav. The complaint alleges that Rajesh Kumar has a fake Ph.D. degree certificate and was never enrolled or registered in Ph.D. programme in BRAU (University of Muzaffarpur), Bihar.

Raghav’s complaint says that there is no existence of any enrollment number or registration number in the records of the University for his PhD. He never submitted any PhD thesis. There is no record of his PhD thesis in BRAU Mujaffarpurr. In the period, which he claims for his PhD in the BRAU university, he was working as transmission executive with Doordarshan Kendra, the complain alleges. The other point he raised is that Rajesh Kumar joined Doon University Dehradun as an associate professor in year 2010. His appointment and validity of his service at Doon University is under challenge before Uttarakhand High Court, Nainital in the public interest litigation no. WP (S/B) No. 475 of 2019 since year 2019. Raghav had urged the IIMC to not entertain the candidature of Kumar until the matter is decided by the Uttarakhand HC. Raghav also urged that IIMC must obtain and bring his enrollment number of PhD and a copy of his PhD thesis on record. reporter
