Gurugram Metropolitan City Bus Limited (GMCBL) ridership has gone up by around 40% since the buses started running in full capacity since August 15, 2020. Starting the week after 15th, on Monday, August 17, 2020 more than 20,000 passengers (20,309 passengers) travelled on Gurugaman buses. On 18th August, Tuesday, the passenger count was 18,733. Passenger mobility was affected on August 19th and 20th due to rains. On August 21, 2020, passenger count rebounded with 19,638 passengers travelling on the six routes.
The routes which are witnessing more passengers are Route 212: Basai Chowk to Basai (Mudrika), Route 134D: Iffco Chowk to IMT Manesar and Route 218: Gurugram Bus Stand to Sohna. Between August 1 to August 14, 2020 there were about 45, 430 passengers who caught Route 134D bus. On Route 212, in this period, 45,723 passengers had travelled. On Route 218, in 14 days, the number of passengers who had travelled was 36,068. On 50% seating capacity, Gurugaman saw around 15,880 passengers travelling on August 14, 2020. With full seating capacity, number of passengers increased to about 20,000 on the first weekday on a single day. The service is being provided assuring Covid-19 safety measures. Buses are clean, sanitised regularly, and foot operated sanitiser is being provided at the entrance gates to facilitate the passengers in maintaining safe hygiene for oneself and the others. Entry and exit through designated gates and entry of passengers wearing masks and temperature reading of passengers further ensure in safe journeys.
