Residents of Greater Noida village celebrated Vrikshabandhan alongwith Rakshabandhan wherein a plantation drive was done by adults as well as children. According to local resident Pradeep Dahaliya who is working for tree conservation, in future brothers-sisters can celebrate this festival only if trees are saved and conserved.
The villagers came together to plant trees on a 130-mt-wide road wherein they tied rakhis to saplings and took a resolve to nurture these trees. This tree conservation drive saw the participation of many children from nearby villages. They planted a variety of trees, namely Jamun, guava, Arjun, Neem among others.
Dahaliya appealed to all brothers-sisters to tie rachis to the saplings and to take oath to save them and to nurture them so that these can grow. Many children including Ishan, Jai Kumar, Kunj, Vanshika Bhati, Ishu, Disha, Dishant, Bhavya Nagar, Jiya, Sachin, Dharmender, Abhishek, Chintu, Anuj, Shivam participated in the drive.
