Municipal Commissioner, Dr Dinesh Chandra Singh has appealed to the masses to shun the use of polythene carry bags due to the harm to the environment they cause; however despite his appeal street vendors and hawkers selling fruits and vegetables are openly defying the diktats of the GNN that has now started to impose hefty fines on those violating the law. In future the GNN is also contemplating taking further action against those repeatedly flouting the law.
