CEO GMCBL, Sonal Goel, IAS after reviewing the ongoing operations of Gurugaman City Bus post Covid-19 Lockdown has issued a special appeal to commuters to sanitise their hands upon boarding the bus from the foot-operated sanitizer installed on each bus, follow seating pattern as indicated by stickers pasted on seats to be left vacant, and to refrain from eating/ chewing tobacco or paan masala, or spitting inside/ from the bus. These Covid-19 protocols must be strictly monitored by the bus crew and voluntarily followed by passengers for the safety of everyone, she said. The CEO also enquired about the ridership response since buses resumed service from July 1, 2020, and issued specific instructions that “Safety’ will be the absolute priority for the operation of GMCBL City Buses and all the protocols laid down by the Government must be followed.

In addition, guidelines drafted by the GMCBL should be carried out by the bus service teams at all times. Some of these guidelines that emphasise on safety and the safe travel of passengers include daily disinfection of buses at depots prior to outshedding; bus drivers ensuring passengers alight only from the exit (front) door and getting the bus disinfected at the terminal after completion of each round trip; CSA’s checking temperature of passengers and controlling seating restrictions (only 18 passengers allowed on a bus) and ensuring passengers wear mask, among others. Concurrently, GMCBL buses are being provided to the Gurugram civil surgeon for hospital duty.
