Since the commencement of lockdown and after its further extension, the Ghaziabad Nagar Nigam (GNN) has been tasked with the additional responsibility of feeding the needy—including migrant labourers and those who have lost their occupations for the time being. A total of 14,000 food packets—7,000 in morning & 7,000 in evening—are being prepared and served by the GNN nowadays through its community kitchens at Avas Vikas guest house at Vasundhara and near Holy Child Intersection. The GNN is distributing te food packets in line with instructions of the DM.
Care is being taken by the GNN officials to serve only quality nutritious food made in hygienic conditions. Jaggery or gur has been added to the palate to strengthen bodily resistance. So far the GNN has distributed 4,700 gur packets with food packets.
The GNN meal mostly comprises vegetables, dal, puri, pickles, green chilly and other servings.
