Several organizations have come forward on call of Municipal Commissioner Dinesh Chandra Singh for doing their bit to feed the poor. These organisations, NGOs, charitable organisations etc had applied for partnering in the Ghaziabad Nagar Nigam’s (GNN) efforts to help the needy in the hour of crisis. Several such including Civil Defence, Sagar Sewa Sansthan, Nehru Nagar, Industrial Area Manufacturing Association, Kavi Nagar, New Friends Colony, Sector 23, Chandra Lakshmi Hospital, Vaishali, and many others have expressed interest, as per a media communication by the GNN.
After the shortlisting of organisations food packets will be made available to zonal incharges and magistrates designated by the DM. Thereafter these will be distributed to those in need.
Meanwhile, several GNN officials including Municipal Commissioner and Mayor Asha Sharma today contributed money to help feed the stranded people on streets, labour workforce that is left with no work, hawkers etc.
The contribution made are as under: Mayor Asha Sharma Rs 21,000; Municipal Commissioner, Dinesh Chandra Singh, Rs 10,000; AMC Pandey Rs 10,000; AMC Pramod Kumar Rs 10,000; Chief Engineer Rs 10,000; and, AO Arun Kumar Mishra Rs 10,000.
At least 700 persons will be fed through these efforts. The GNN also claims to be fogging and sanitizing areas and colonies where suspected cases were found.
