Minister of State for Women and Child Development, Haryana, Kamlesh Dhanda today said that a state-level function will be organized on the occasion of International Women’s Day in Gurugram on March 8, 2020 and the Chief Minister, Manohar Lal will be the chief guest on the occasion.
Giving information about the same, Kamlesh Dhanda said that this year the theme of International Women’s Day is ‘Each for equal’. She said that apart from this the state-level function on the occasion of International Women’s Day will also be organized at the district, sub-division and at gram sabha levels. She said that Chief Minister, Manohar Lal will flag off a Marathon event at 7am in Gurugram on March 8. Similarly, 3 km, 5km and 10 km events of ‘Pinkathon’ will be organized for women at all districts and sub-division levels across Haryana. She said that the participants are preferred to be in pink attire. Facilities like, mobile toilets, refreshments, drinking water, and other safety measures should be arranged to facilitate participants, she added.
The minister said that the district administration has launched a Marathon registration drive from March 1 which will continue till March 7, 2020 at www.mahiladiwasmarathon.in. She said that the Chief Minister will address about 500 women from every district who have done excellent work in various fields through videoconferencing from Gurugram.
The minister said that on the occasion of International Women’s Day, the Poshan Pakhwara will also be launched to create awareness on the issues of malnutrition and anemia among women and children, which will be from March 8 to March 22, 2020. In addition to this Poshan anthem and Poshan Pledge will also be organized. She said that a mass program to download Durga Shakti App will also be organized.
The minister said that Gram Sabha meetings will be organized across all villages on March 8, 2020, by the concerned Deputy Commissioners to reduce anemia and malnutrition and create awareness about sanitation, nutrition under Poshan Abhiyan. Awareness would also be created on other issues over women rights, gender equality and safety
She said that all departments like Development and Panchayat, Health, Public Relations, Education, Transport, Urban Local Bodies and Women and Child Development will cooperate to celebrate International Women’s Day in convergence and Women and Child Development will be the nodal department.
