Despite Central Ground Water Authority (CGWA) writing to DM to take action against two developers namely Migsun and Nandini Homes that are illegally drawing groundwater for their under-construction projects in Vasundhara colony’s Atal Chowk, no action had been taken against these two developers by the district administration.

The complaint was initially made to Member Secretary of the CGWA—a Govt. of India body. The Member Secretary forwarded the complaint to the Regional Director of CGWA at Lucknow who in turn wrote to the DM to take action and to intimate the complainants.

Complainant Sushil Raghav and a journalist had complained to the CGWA that these two developers are illegally drawing groundwater in Vasundhara. As Ghaziabad municipal area falls in notified category water extraction can only be done with a valid NOC that too can be given only for drinking purposes, as per CGWA guidelines. According to the complainant Sushil Raghav the DM Ghaziabad—who is the nodal officer to act against such complaints should have taken action as the projects of the developers are on in full swing. He said if no action is taken in next few days he will approach the National Green tribunal (NGT) against the inaction. reporter
