Delhi: Students given self-defence classes by NW Dist. Police

North District, Delhi Police organised the closing ceremony of “Sashakti” program at sports ground Daulat Ram College on Feb 17. Nuzhat Hassan, Special Commissioner of Police, SPUWAC graced the function as Chief Guest. The two-week training program was organised with the help of NSS society of Daulat Ram College from 28.1.2020 to 04.2.2020, (preliminary training) and 10 .02.20 to 17.02.20 (advance training) in which 450 students of Daulat Ram College were imparted training in self-defence. The goal of this program was to reinforce a sense of confidence in girls and to teach them that a girl’s best weapon is her mind. Some ways in which a girl can defend herself seem strange, but are actually very intelligent. In self-defence classes students have been taught to remain calm and use physical tactics in serious situations.

In addition the student participants were also made aware about safety measures as to how to deal with antisocial elements and to prevent chain snatching, stalking, eve-teaching, assault. Apart from this they were also educated about Cyber Stalking, safeguards while using Social Media, Gender Sensitization and Himmat Plus app etc.

The Parivartan Cell of North District is organising regular Self-Defence Training Programmes for the girls/women in schools, colleges and other places.
