A couple hailing from Madhya Pradesh, namely Abhinav Khare, from Itarsi and Sakshi Shrivastav from Bhind, who are going to tie the knot on Feb 25 are inviting their near & dear ones by sending them eco-friendly cards giving the message of environment protection and water conservation. Abhinav Khare is working with an MNC in NCR and is working with a Gr Noida based NGO, SAFE.

As per Sakshi both of them along with their families thought about making their wedding memorable and hence came up with the idea of eco-friendly wedding cards that are made up of ‘seeds’ of green vegetables such as Chaulia and Palak (spinach) and this message has been printed on the cards. The message also says that the cards can be used for further plantation work as these cards lists out the techniques of planting saplings. The cards can also be re-cycled.

The couple claim that the wedding card can be used for planting saplings by immersing it in water for 24 hrs that will change it into pulp. Thereafter it can be placed in a vessel or a pot beneath the top soil. Keep watering it and after a few days, and being exposed to proper sunlight several saplings will sprout from it—remember the cards are made of seeds of leafy vegetables.

The marriage ceremony will also give message of environmental protection in many different ways. The couple are also being encouraged by their parents who welcomed the initiative taken by them.
