G’bad: RA, gout preventable with right medication, says doc. at Yashoda Hospital, Kaushambi


A free mega camp on gout and rheumatoid arthritis was held at Yashoda Hospital, Kaushambi where more than 100 persons attended the camp. Senior Specialist Souvik Das Gupta gave consultation to the patients and conducted their free examination. The camp was organized by MD Dr PN Arora. Dr Das Gupta said that there was no clear reason for these diseases. He said that RA usually was found in mid-age people but women are four times more susceptible to this disease. If it is diagnosed in the right stage it can be treated allopathically, he said and added that some tests have to be conducted by a rheumatologist for the diagnosis.  He said that pain and swelling in joints is a warning that RA might be developing in a person.  

Dr Das Gupta added that due to RA a patient develops deformity in the bones and has to suffer a great deal of pain. However, he said that now the medicines of RA are quite advanced and have lesser side effects. He also said that a balanced diet is also useful in lessening the symptoms of this disease.

The camp was conducted by Gaurav Pandey, Prateem Goon, Rohit Choudhary, Himanshu, Saira and Sanjeev.
