Noida Authority fines 4 developers for non-disposal of bulk waste & non functional STPs

Housing societies where waste generation exceeds 100 kgs per day need to segregate and dispose of their waste accordingly, as per the SWM Rules

Noida Authority has taken action against 4 housing societies for non-compliance of waste disposal at their end as well as for non functional STPs. All 4 were slapped with a total fine of Rs 4.5 lakhs. The action has been taken as these societies have violated the Solid Waste Management Rules 2016.

In the first phase such societies are being targeted where the builder is looking after maintenance. In next phase all those societies where the maintenance is being looked after by AOA will be targeted.

The societies that have been fined are: AIMS Golf Avenue, Rs 1.25 lakhs; Dasnack, Rs 1.25 lakhs; Max Bliss Society, Rs 1 lakh and Apex Dream Homes, Rs 1 lakh.

The Authority about 5 months’ back had conducted a workshop with the housing societies for effective implementation of the SWM Act. All bulk waste generators who are producing more than 100 kgs of waste per day need to put in place their own waste disposal management systems. A similar exercise has been launched in Ghaziabad too where the Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation is sending notices to several bulk waste generators including housing societies, malls, hotels, etc who are producing more than 100 kgs waste to segregate and dispose of their waste accordingly.
