G’bad: At Sahibabad Mandi, Mun. Comm. appeals to masses to shun plastic carry bags

To raise awareness about Swachhata values and Swachhata Survekshan 2020 street plays (nukkad nataks) are being organized by the Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation (GMC). In sync with this, today street plays were organized at Sahibabad vegetable market (Mandi) wherein Municipal Commissioner, Dinesh Chandra Singh alongwith other senior officials such as Vasundhara Zone Incharge, Sunil Kumar Rai, Mandi Secretary, Vishvendra Singh, Zonal Sanitary Officer, Dinesh Aggarwal and SFI Yogendra Yadav were also present.

On this occasion a dummy made of banned plastic material was razed to the ground by a stick by Dinesh Chandra Singh signifying that plastic has to be weeded out of our lives. The MC appealed to the masses to take a cloth bag along with them while going to the market.

The street plays focused on disposal of waste as per the standards set for them such as their proper segregation, GMC’s initiatives such as door-to-door collection of garbage and routine action against plastic.

An oath was also administered to the gathering to shun plastic and the laws as well as penal provisions surrounding it.
