NGT directs DC Meerut to personally intervene to solve problems of Kaushambi, G’bad residents

The Tribunal was hearing an Execution Application regarding non-compliance by authorities, on a plea by Kaushambi Apartments Residents Welfare Association

The National Green Tribunal (NGT) in a judgment recently had asked the Divisional Commissioner of Meerut to look into the matter of illegal parking & encroachment as well as pollution, in Kaushambi area of Ghaziabad on an Execution Application (with regard to non-compliance of a previous order) by Kaushambi Apartments Residents Welfare Association (KARWA).

The NGT previously in its order of August 20 had directed the constitution of a committee comprising the Divisional Commissioner, Meerut and representatives from CPCB and Municipal Corporation. However, it was pointed out by the applicant that so far no concrete action had been taken by the authorities to comply with the green court’s orders and that illegal parking and encroachments are a commonplace in Kaushambi.

The Tribunal directed the Divisional Commissioner, to look into the problems of the residents through a public meeting on Dec 19. The NGT also asked the DC to look into this matter personally. The plea will be further heard on Feb 6, 2020.
