Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation (GMC) has intensified its drive against polythene and illegal dairies with the Swachhata Survekshan kicking off. The GMC seized a total of 12 kgs of polythene from across all 5 zones and collected a total fine of Rs 27,700. Under the drive titled Paryavaran Shuddh Abhiyaan the GMC yesterday took action against illegal dairies in various parts of the city: one in Ganeshpuri- fine levied Rs 5,000; in Paccca Talab at Pachhadan colony area 3 dairy owners who had constructed a boundary wall on main road of the GMC were fined Rs 10,000. All dairy owners were fined for choking the drains by discharging the waste matter.
In Kaushambi shopkeepers who had encroached upon the road were fined Rs 3,000. A total of Rs 47,500 was collected thus in the drive. The GMC officials are also taking an affidavit fro the dairy owners in which they have to state that they would shift their dairies from residential areas in a month’s time failing which further legal action can be initiated against them.
