At least 45 persons reported dead in Delhi’s Anaz Mandi fire

More than 43 people are reportedly dead and several grievously injured in a tragic fire at Delhi’s Anaz Mandi area at the break of dawn. Most of the victims were labourers who were sleeping in the 3 buildings—reportedly dilapidated factory buildings—when these caught fire. The buildings housed schools bags and other items were kept it has been learnt.

The cause of fire is said to be a short circuit. CM Arvind Kejriwal has announced Rs 10 lakh ex gratia for the dead victims while the grievously injured will be given Rs 1 lakh each and the cost of their treatment will be paid by the Delhi Govt.

In reply to media queries the CM said that a magisterial enquiry has been ordered into the incident and the culprits won’t be spared.

The tragic incident has once again brought to the fore the existence of illegal factories operating from residential colonies in Delhi. reporter
