NGT dismisses Arthala Lake encroachers’ plea for stay & impleadment

The case of removal of encroachments from Arthala Lake in Ghaziabad took a curious turn at National Green Tribunal (NGT) when a section of those affected by the judgment—under which several houses have to be razed—filed a case for impleadment or becoming a new party to the case and a further plea for stay in a case that has already been settled. The NGT dismissed the plea by these residents who are encroachers residing near the lake.

However, petitioner Sushil Raghav told delhincrnews.in that he would want that the Ghaziabad administration shift all these encroachers, who actually bought houses in good faith should be provides houses or flats in several scattered schemes of GDA, DUDA and Avas Vikas before their houses are razed. He said that the judgment is clear about removal of encroachers.

Raghav also informed that the NGT had asked the UP Avas Vikas for its affidavit again, He said that the Tribunal asked why there was delay in filing the affidavit. He also said that as per the affidavit the Avas Vikas shall be restoring a portion of the lake in Vasundhara colony that would measure around 7 hectares. The matter will come for further hearing on January 8, 2020.
