Delhi: STF Crime Branch arrests notorious robber at Sarai Kale Khan ISBT

The accused is a member of a highway gang that looted passengers after offering them lifts


An STF team of Crime Branch was successful in locating and arresting one wanted robber namely Surender alias Sagar alias Rahul, 29, wanted in several cases of robberies committed in different locations across Delhi & NCR.  He was declared as a Proclaimed Offender by the concerned court.

On June 8, a case U/s 392/34 IPC  was registered at Sunlight Colony Police Station in which the complainant alleged that when the complainant along with his friend were waiting for a bus at Maharani Bagh Bus stand near Sunlight Colony, one Swift Dzire car came to them, in which already three passengers occupied the seats. The occupants offered them lift and promised them to drop at New Delhi railway station at a reasonable fare. Trusting their words, complainant and his friend boarded the car. As soon as the car reached near Arch Bishop Marg, Lodhi Road,  the accused Surender along with his associates robbed the  mobile phones, cash Rs.13,500, their bags and 2 ATM cards from the complainant and his friend. The accused persons also threatened them to kill if they don’t disclose the PIN numbers of both the ATM cards. Later on, the accused persons withdrew Rs.6,500 from one of the stolen ATM cards. 

The accused persons involved in the incident were Satender, Rahul, Shahul and  Surender. All the three accused persons namely Satender, Rahul, and Shahul were arrested by the local police while the accused Surender has been evading his arrest and continued to rob the passengers after mingling with other known gang members.

Acting on a specific information the police team laid a trap in the evening on Nov 14 near ISBT Sarai Kale Khan, Delhi. The accused Surender arrived there in a car to meet someone at ISBT. Sensing the presence of the police team, he stepped out of his car and tried to flee away. But the alert police team surrounded him from all the sides, overpowered and arrested him immediately.
