Delhi: Crime Branch arrests dreaded shooter accused of killing a gangster

The cops recovered one sophisticated pistol (.32 bore) with 3 live cartridges and two spent cartridges as well as one Honda City car


A team of ISC, Crime Branch led by Inspector Gurmeet Singh and consisting of SI Surendra Sharma, ASI’s Sanjay Tyagi, Vijay Singh, HCs Virender, Bijender, constables Mohit, Amit, Ranbeer, under the supervision of ACP Jasbir Singh has arrested a criminal, namely Darshan Dabas carrying a reward from PS Najafgargh. He was wanted in a murder case of another criminal namely Kalu Banjara. The person was arrested after a brief exchange of fire in the wee hours of 6th and 7th November near Village Dhulsiras, Sector 23, Dwarka, New Delhi.

On Dec 13, 2018, a case of murder was registered on the statement of one Vijay Pal, a resident of Delhi wherein he mentioned that his brother namely Pravin Rathore alias Kalu Banjara  has been murdered near Nangli Sakrwati Industrial Area, Najafgarh. A case under Arms Act was registered at Najafgarh, District Dwarka, New Delhi. During investigation, it was revealed that the murder has been committed by one Darshan Dabas and his gang members, who had been absconding since then. A reward of Rs. 50,000 was declared on his arrest.

A police team worked relentlessly, deployed sources and mounted technical surveillance. On Nov 6, the hard work of the team bore fruits when HC Virender received specific information that the accused Darshan Dabas, would be coming at Village Dhulsiras, Dwarka Sector 23, Delhi. On this information, a trap was laid at about 11.25 pm near Village Dhulsiras, Dwarka Sector 23, Delhi one  Honda City Car Silver Color bearing No. HR 51 T 9243 was spoted coming from Village Dhulsiras towards Sector 23, Dwarka side. The car was intercepted from three sides and directed to stop, but the car driver further accelerated and tried to escape from the spot, but the police team chased and tried to stop the vehicle. On this, the car driver rammed his car into Police Gypsy. The driver of the said car came out with a firearm from his car and on being warned to surrender, he started indiscriminately firing while aiming at the Police team. His bullet hit the bulletproof jacket of HC Virender who had a narrow escape and Police team also retaliated in self-defence to deter the criminals from absconding. During the cross firing, the accused was apprehended without any injury.

One sophisticated pistol of .32 bore with three live cartridges were recovered from the possession of the accused. Total two bullets were fired by the accused person upon police party while 4 bullets were fired by police team in self-defence. reporter
