G’bad: Vendors near Purana Bus Adda fined Rs 35 k for using polythene carry bags

A sudden visit today by Municipal Commissioner at a vegetable & fruit market exposed unregulated traders using banned polythene


Ghaziabad Nagar Nigam (GNN) today fined several vegetable vendors and shop owners located at a Mandi near Purana Bus Adda area to the tune of Rs 35,000 for repeatedly using polythene carry bags even after previous warnings. The penalty was levied after Municipal Commissioner, Dinesh Chandra Singh visited the area and fu the vendors violating the rules. The AMC of GNN Pramod Kumar was also instructed by Singh to initiate legal proceedings against the vendors and shopkeepers repeating the offence and for this to write a letter to the City Magistrate.

Further, the Municipal Commissioner directed that all sanitation workers shall from tomorrow onwards wear tool kit and uniform of the GNN while at work where they also need to bring their I-cards.

Dinesh Chandra Singh also visited the Hindon Chatth Ghat where waste matter was found strewn across, upon which the sanitation officials and staff was directed to clean the area and send geo-tagged pictures of the entire cleanliness drive.
