G’bad: Dabur India & Sage Metals to pay a fine of Rs 5 lakhs each for violations

A number of violators using plastic as well as defacing Ghaziabad Nagar Nigam (GNN) property were penalized today by a team of Vasundhara Zone of the GNN on orders of Municipal Commissioner, Dinesh Chandra Singh who also took stock of the proceedings.

Dabur India was issued a notice to pay up a fine of Rs 5 lakhs in 3 days for defacing the GNN Swachh Bharat slogans put up on central verge on Mohan Nagar link road. The company had pasted stickers of its products on the GNN slogans and had also damaged the painting o the grill of the central verge. The Municipal Commissioner also warned the company not to engage in such misadventure in future and if done again an FIR will be registered against the company. The company was also asked the company management to paint the grill as earlier.

A steep fine of Rs 5 lakhs was also imposed on Sage Metals at Sahibabad Ind. Area, plots 7 B & 8 B. The business entity was earlier asked to follow the rules regarding re-cycling of plastic waste from its own premises as applicable to bulk waste generators under Solid Waste Management Rules 2016, as well as for stocking plastic that is punishable with a fine under UP Plastic and Other Bio degradable (regulation of use and disposal) (Amendment) Ordinance 2018 and another for violating Municipal Corporation Act of 1959 by discharging hazardous chemicals into Sahibabad drain.

In view of these continuous violations despite being asked to fall in line and for non-payment of fine for which a notice was earlier issued by the GNN, a notice of a Rs 5 lakhs in fine was issued to owners of Sage Metals.

A roadside shopkeeper opposite Wave Mall who was selling chowmein and snacks was penalized Rs 50,000 for using plastic under relevant laws.

Other people were also fined for causing air pollution by the GNN team for offences such as burning waste, plastic, wood among other items.
