On an application filed by a business enterprise operating in Rajasthan, requesting the National Green Tribunal (NGT) to grant permission for extraction of groundwater for industrial use, the NGT has refused permission.

The industry is one Ridhi Sidhi Mills India Pvt. Ltd. situated at industrial area Phase-II Pali, Rajasthan.  The NGT was apprised that  Central Ground Water Authority (CGWA) has filed detailed reply to this application and that a total of 725 applications with regard to seeking permission for extraction of ground water were pending with the CGWA including the present application.

The NGT said that as already ordered in earlier orders the question as to whether the permission should be granted to them or not shall be decided by the Tribunal.  “We have already ordered that till then no one is to be granted permission, as the area is over exploited zone,” said the NGT while disposing of the application.
