Yashoda Hospital Kaushambi, Ghaziabad organised its first annual event in the form of Yashoda half marathon 2019 on the occasion of world heart month. The theme of this half marathon was “Run for your heart”.
This half marathon was jointly inaugurated by the chief guest Union Minister of state, General VK Singh (retd) and local MP, General Secretary of Bharatiya Janata Party, Arun Kumar Singh, Chief Guest, P K Gupta, Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Uttar Pradesh West region, Special Guest, Sangeet Som, MLA, Special Guest, Dr. PN Arora, Managing Director of Yashoda Super Specialty Hospital Kaushambi, Upasana Arora, Director and Shubhang Arora, Executive Director.
The half marathon started in the early hours on country’s longest elevated road known as Hindon Elevated Road. This run was organised in three parts first was 21 km long half marathon , second was 10 kilometre run and third 5 kilometre run. Additional 5 kilometre walkathon was also organized. Yashoda half marathon started from Yashoda super speciality hospital situated in Kaushambi and went via UP Gate to Hindon elevated road till Hindon bridge from where it took a U turn and participants came back to finish point which was at Yashoda super speciality hospital Kaushambi Ghaziabad. In this half marathon more than 1,000 people participated. The main focus of this event was that mostly the new beginners of marathon joined this event. It was a unique marathon in its own way as it is organized first time on elevated road so it becomes the “First Elevated marathon of Country”.
One of the highlights of this marathon was that foreign nationals from Germany also participated in this run and the runners got to run in the open air early morning on the elevated road. People described it as a pleasant experience.
Children, women and men from Kaushambi Runners Club, Expressway Runners, Crossings Republic Runners, Indirapuram Runners and Pardada Pardadi NGO, Bulandshahr participated in this marathon. The doctors who gave advice to others to stay fit, run daily and walk, also enjoyed it when they ran with normal people and they promised the doctors that they are very inspired to see them running and now regularly they will keep running and jogging
In the women’s 10 km race, Sakshi finished first, Dipanshu Joshi finished second and Bulbul finished third, while Anwar Hussain was first in men’s 10 km race, Ayush finished second, Dushyant finished third. In women’s 21 km, Amita was first, Sushma Sharma was second, Preeti was third, while Mohit finished first in men’s 21 km race, Pushpendra finished second, Nagendra finished third. Sushant Singh finished first in the men’s 5 km race. MLA Sangeet Som presented the trophy to the winners
