G’bad: Yashoda Hospital, Kaushambi to organise 1st annual Half Marathon in UP on Sept. 15


In keeping with the Fit India Movement announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and on occasion of World Heart Safety Month, Yashoda Hospital Kaushambi is going all out to celebrate the theme by organizing a Half Marathon on September 15 that will start from Hindon Elevated Road point near the hospital and back—a distance of total 21 kms, besides 10 & 5 kms. In addition, there will be a 5 km walkathon. For this marathon permission from the administration has been taken.

According to Managing Director, PN Arora, such a marathon is being organized in Uttar Pradesh probably for the first time ever. Dr Arora said that Yashoda Hospital wants to raise awareness amongst the public towards staying fit. “A fit person is not only an asset for himself but for his family and the nation as he can be more productive in work,” said Dr Arora. He added that fitness also means lesser diseases and thereby saves cost towards medical treatment. Dr Arora is also Vice President of UP Olympic Association.

At least 1,000 persons of all ages have so far registered for the marathon said Dr Arora. These include doctors and their wards as well as other people from Delhi-NCR. Director Upasana Arora was also present on the occasion. Media persons were also urged to participate in the marathon.

Dr Sunil Dagar said that the preparations for this Half Marathon were on since the last 3 months and said that the winners will also be given trophies. During the marathon there will be sufficient facilities for drinking water, mobile toilets, physio and energy drinks, he said.

It was also apprised that the marathon will be organised every year starting from 2019.
