Faridabad scribe thrashed by goons for objecting against drinking liquor near his house

In an apparent break-down of law & order machinery, a journalist, namely Yogesh Gautam, running a news portal was allegedly thrashed by goons just for raising objection on their drinking liquor in their car parked outside the journalist’s house.

According to the complaint filed by his wife Anita, Yogesh returned from his office around 10pm and found a Scorpio parked outside his house in which  5-6 people were enjoying biryani and consuming liquor. When he objected the occupants of the vehicle beat him up black & blue. Anita also alleged that the goons snatched the gold chain worn by Yogesh before fleeing from the spot.

The incident led to widespread uproar from local mediapersons of Faridabad and other neighboring towns. Police sources informed that a case has been lodged under different sections and police is looking to arrest the accused at the earliest. Sources informed three of the accused being nabbed by the police for interrogation. Others are still at large. Police commissioner K.K. Rao, who has recently assumed charged in the city, has assured to take immediate steps to nab the other accused too.

It is worth mentioning here that in the recent past another journalist, Harinder was thrashed by goons without being provoked by Harinder in the Ballabgarh area. Prior to this son of a journalist, Sanjay Sharma was killed by some youth without any reason in broad daylight. In this case also the police was seen helpless as the accused were nabbed and immediately released on bail by the local police. Two senior journalists have been thrashed by the goons in the last one year. Mediapersons have raised concern over the rising number of the violence against the media and the indifference of the police to such incidents. Local media has decided to launch a much wider protests against such atrocities against media fraternity. It is also expected to be supported by other districts and neighboring states.
