G’bad: Indirapuram cops rescue in 12 hours kidnapped engineer-daughter from Vasundhara

The kidnapper is a DU student and knew the girl for some time, said the police. He demanded a ransom of Rs 1.3 crores


Ghaziabad Police successfully rescued a 50-yr-old engineer and his 17-yr-old daughter from the clutches of a kidnapper from Vasundhara Sec 3 area in 12 hours, it was disclosed by SSP Sudhir Singh. The kidnapper Avneet Singh Walia knew the engineer’s daughter and had called the duo at his home on pretext of a pooja yesterday morning. There he kidnapped them at gun-point. A ransom of Rs 1.3 crores was asked for and a token money of Rs 5 lakhs in advance for keeping them alive. A team of Indirapuram Police that rescued the duo put a GPS chip in the bag and currency worth Rs 5 lakhs was sent to the kidnapper who was later tracked down through the GPS. However, he kept changing is location now & then in Delhi and Ghaziabad.

The accused is a student of Khalsa College of DU. He was living at Vaishali Sec 4 and had also taken a house on rent at Vasundhara Sec 3 where he kept the father-daughter together after kidnapping them.

The police have recovered a Swift car and a pistol among other things.
