NGT has asked GDA and UPPCB to submit an action taken report on allegations leveled by nearby residents that both these organizations are using diesel generator sets that are polluting the atmosphere

National Green Tribunal (NGT) has sought factual information from Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) and UPPCB over allegations of air pollution caused by diesel generators used by Indirapuram Habitat Centre and Presidium School, Indirapuram. Taking notice of these allegations on complaint by residents of vicinity the NGT noted that both these entities are using diesel generator sets creating air and noise pollution at Indirapuram, Ghaziabad in violation of the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981.

The NGT further noted that air pollution caused thus is also affecting the students of the Presidium School and inhabitants of the area. Diesel is being stored in painting drums in open which is life threatening.

The reply to the NGT has to be submitted in a month’s time.
