G’bad Nagar Nigam appeals to citizens to cooperate for Swachh Survekshan 2020

As the preparations begin, the GNN has appealed to the masses to stop using plastic, to download the app for reporting unclean surroundings and has asked all stakeholders to dispose of bulk waste in the societies and premises on their own, as mandated by waste laws & rules

Soon after the announcement by the Centre of kickstarting Swachh Surkekshan 2020 Ghaziabad Nagar Nigam (GNN) through a statement said that all preparations to make Ghaziabad a clean city are being started by the GNN in earnest.

Municipal Commissioner had exhorted the public to cooperate whole-heartedly to make Swachhata drive a success and to realize the dream of getting first ranking for Ghaziabad once again in UP in Swacch Surveshan, like the previous year.

The GNN has started focus on various parameters and aspects that have to be fulfilled to achieve good results in Swachh Survekshan 2020. These are:

  • Focus on  treating sewage water for use in horticulture.
  • Educating the public and the RWAs about the need for disposing of waste in their backyard and to turn the organic waste into compost for use in parks. The GNN is also felicitating such RWAs.
  • Organising awareness drives for stakeholders such as housing societies, schools & colleges, hospitals, malls, hotels etc to sensitise them on waste management.
  • Urging public to not use plastic in any form. In this context, restaurants and event organizers are gradually organizing functions where food is being served in steel utensils. The GNN is also asking people to download 311 app for reporting about garbage and waste in their vicinity.
