A gang of criminals who posed as cab passengers and looted unsuspecting travellers at important public places like Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) and other public places like bus stop among others was busted by Ghaziabad Police and the accused were handed over to Delhi Police. After a Canadian national and IndiGo pilot was robbed at knife-point by armed assailants posing as cab passengers at IG International Airport and 3 other similar incidents reported from Delhi Cantt and Ghaziabad. In the incident in Ghaziabad one person after getting out of Railway Station late in the night boarded a cab to Noida but was robbed off his belongings and cash by armed assailants. Now with the arrest of persons the Delhi Police had claimed to solves all these armed dacoities.

turing the course of investigation, matching details of suspects’ vehicle were searched. The vehicle bearing number DL-1ZB-0477 was rounded but examination of its owner revealed that his vehicle was not used for commission of crime. The police team worked on technical surveillance, followed various clues obtained from CCTV and other leads available and finally Meerut based suspects were zeroed in. Raids were conducted at the residence of mastermind Mehraj. It was revealed that he alongwith his two other accomplice are in police custody since July 16 at Sahibabad Police Station of Ghaziabad. The accused person Mehraj Salmani, Asif and Farman were questioned in the court complex at Sahibabad court. All three were arrested after their admitted committing the above offences. They were taken on three days police custody remands and were questioned at length. As many as three fresh cases of PS Delhi Cantonment, Delhi and PS Vijay Nagar Ghaziabad of similar modus operandi were solved. One accused is absconding.
The police seized a Swift Dzire Cab bearing No. DL-1ZB-1535; 2 fake number plates bearing No. DL-1ZB-0477 were also seized besides an ATM Card and a VISA card belonging to victim as well as a mask and a cap used by accused person to conceal their identity.
