Delhi Police arrests 3 inter-state ammunition traffickers

A team of Special Cell/NDR, led by Inspectors Ravinder Kumar Tyagi and Ajay Kumar, under the close supervision of ACPs Lalit Mohan Negi and Hridaya Bhushan arrested three inter-state illegal ammunition traffickers namely: Praveen Kumar Verma, aged 51 years, s/o Late Mithlesh Kumar Verma, r/o H. No. 246, Kaji Tola, Shikohabad, District Firozabad, UP; Prateek Kumar Verma alias Sunny, aged 23 years, s/o Praveen Kumar Verma, r/o H. No. 246, Kaji Tola, Shikohabad, District Firozabad, UP; and, Sonu Singh, aged 22 years, s/o Samunder Singh, r/o Churia Mohalla, village Madanpur Khadar, Delhi (permanent resident of village Kulwa, PS Kanchanpur, District Dholpur Rajasthan).

The accused were arrested from near Gate No. 2, Ashram Metro Station, Hari Nagar Ashram, Ring Road, New Delhi along with 800 live cartridges of 0.315 bore, one Chevrolet Cruze car and one Bullet motorcycle. Further, a raid was conducted subsequent to the disclosures made by the arrested accused at the residence of Parveen Kumar Verma in Shikohabad and 450 additional cartridges of 7.65 mm were recovered from there, taking the total tally to 1,250 live cartridges.

Accused Parveen Kumar Verma had a gun shop in Sikohabad, District Firozabad, UP whose license was cancelled in the year 2007. Since 2007, he has been found procuring cartridges from his erstwhile network of licensed dealers and has been selling the same through a network of conduits in Bihar, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, M.P. and Delhi/NCR.
