The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) is planning to revive more than 500 water bodies in the district after process for their identification was taken up. The NGT had previously expressed apprehension about the dwindling water table in the district.

It had ordered the GMDA to identify such water bodies and to revive them through rain water harvesting. The GMDA has been able to identify 644 water bodies so far. Out of these more than 500 such water bodies are drying up and hence these will be now revived with cooperation from other departments, a source said.
