Passing an order on May 21, subsequent to its orders dated January 7 the National Green Tribunal (NGT) had sought an action taken report from CPCB, DPCC, DM and NDMC on illegal banquet halls.
A report to the NGT on Feb 15 stated that only eight banquet halls were inspected, though there were many others in the area. They could not produce building plans/maps. None of them have authorized parking arrangements. All had borewells but could not produce permission, besides other deficiencies.
The DPCC on May 17 filed a report stating that three of the banquet halls were operating without consent to operate. Tiffany banquet hall was violating consent to operate. DPCC issued closure notices.
According to the CPCB report, there was no parking arrangement and there are illegal borewells. The NGT order stated that, “DPCC had not dealt with these aspects except stating that letter is being issued for disconnection of illegal borewells. About parking arrangement, nothing has been mentioned.”
The NGT further stated that the question of distance to be required from the road as per Master Plan or other regulations needs to be looked into, and asked for a joint inspection by the CPCB and the DPCC and asked them to submit a revised report on June 8.
