G’bad: Companies to get notice for failing to recycle plastic waste

Once again, while on a visit to take stock of ground realities at City Zone’s Kaila Bhatta area, Municipal Commissioner, Ghaziabad Nagar Nigam (GNN), Dinesh Chandra Singh found that plastic bottles of several companies such as Pepsi, Thums Up, Fruity, Bisleri, Maza, Fortune Oil, AquaFest, Fanta among others were littered on the road. This led to the conclusion that these companies were not following the Extended Producers Responsibility under Solid Waste Management Rules 2016 & 2018, by which the used bottles ought to be recycled.

Dinesh Chandra Singh directed AMC Pramod Kumar to issue notices to these violators. At various places in Kaila Bhatta garbage was piling and had not been lifted upon which the sanitation staff was asked to clean up the area.

One person selling his brand of RO water was penalized and his RO plant was directed to be sealed.

The Municipal Commissioner also found that a water pump being run by GNN was not running and the pump premises were locked. On asking the nearby residents it came to light that the pump operators ran the pump on their whims and without any schedule and were absent most of the time. GM (Water Works), Brijesh Kumar Singh was directed to investigate the matter and to take action against the concerned JE and the operators in 3 days.

A dairy owner was also fined by the MC for choking the drains with dung and his submersible connection was sealed. Singh also visited the compost plant at Sai Upwan where the composting plant was being run. Here it was found that with the Puja items plastic waste was also getting mixed upon which he directed the AMC Pramod Kumar to talk to the temple priests about this scenario and to get the matter resolved.
