Delhi: Seelampur cops seize 3,750 quarters of illicit liquor; one held

With the arrest of one bootlegger namely Nuruddin a resident of Rajeev Colony, Narela, Delhi, North East District police team of Police Station Seelampur recovered 75 Cartons (3,750 quarters) of illicit liquor and a car used for carrying illicit liquor from his possession. On May 10 during the course of pr atrolling, a police team of PS Seelampur started surprise checking near Seelampur red light.

Meanwhile, the police team noticed some suspicious activity of a car and as the checking team tried to stop the vehicle, the driver of vehicle tried to flee away with the vehicle, but the alert police team nabbed the driver along with the vehicle. During the course of cursory search, a total of 75 Cartons (3750 quarters) of illicit liquor were recovered from the car. Driver of the car was identified as Nuruddin, a resident of Rajeev Colony, Narela, Delhi. Hence a case under Delhi Excise Act was registered against accused Nuruddin at Seelampur Police Station and has been arrested accordingly.

During sustained interrogation it was revealed that accused Nuruddin was to supply the same in trans-Yamuna area. Further investigation is going on. Nuruddin, aged 25 years is a native of Meerut (UP). He has not done any schooling and he used to assist his father in mason work. He started to commit the crime to fulfill his need of easy money. reporter
