Ghaziabad: Activist asks Forest Dept. about steps taken to control forest fires

A complaint against fire in an avian habitat along Hindon has been made by  green activist Pradeep Dahaliya who had asked the Forest Department about the steps taken for watering the trees especially through water tankers. He has further asked the department to furnish details about the contingency plan for protecting trees from ‘forest’ fires across Ghaziabad district. Notably, the activist pointed out that the Forest Department has spent lakhs on plantation. “But where is the plan for protecting these trees from such disasters,” Dahaliya asked.

He has further made a reference to a green  belt near Sanjay Nagar Flyover in Raj Nagar area that he said was being maintained by the GDA and has provisions for boring water and a hut for a caretaker, but despite that trees and other plants at this green belt were dying due to lack of proper care and water. He alleged that due to callous attitude of the department the damage suffered to these trees is about 7-8 feet from the base upwards.
