U’khand: NGT asks DM Champawat & pollution board to act against garbage dumping along Sharda banks

Treating a letter full of grievance as a complaint the National Green Tribunal (NGT) in an order dated May 7 has directed the District Magistrate, Champawat and Uttrakhand State Pollution Control Board to look into the complaint made by one Kamal Pant, a social worker from Champawat, Uttarakhand, who has asked the green court to intervene in the matter of dumping of garbage on the bank of River Sharda at Tanakpur District, Champawat, Uttarakhand.

The NGT has asked the said authorities to take appropriate action in accordance with law and furnish a factual and action taken report in the matter within two months of the order.

The nodal agency for coordination and compliance will be Uttarakhand State Pollution Control Board. The matter has been listed for further consideration on August 22.
