Election fever is on in Ghaziabad and one of the most busiest and sensitive police stations in the district- Indirapuram- is seeing hectic activity towards preparing for ensuring free & fair elections, led by Inspector & SHO Sandeep Kumar Singh.
While taking a meeting of all sub inspectors of various police outposts Sandeep Kumar Singh said that his priority is to ensure free & fair elections. Giving details he said that 579 persons have been punished (in act of Paband) whereas the police have deposited as many as 479 firearms. The SHO said that 23 persons who could have threatened free electoral process have been detained by the Indirapuram police.
Singh informed that at least 9 kgs of intoxicant/narcotic substance has been seized by the cops and a case under NDPS Act has been registered in this regard. He said that 8 persons have also been detained with illicit liquor while 6 have been detained under the Goonda Act. Section 110 G has also been invoked in 20 cases.
Sandeep Kumar Singh apprised that the police had also seized ammunition amounting to 106 cartridges ahead of elections.
A flag march has been conducted and on the polling day nobody will be allowed to venture in any way up to a distance of 200 metres from the polling venue, other than to vote, he said. Tight security will also be ensured at all polling stations & booths.
Paramilitary forces have already arrived and the police is fully vigilant to prevent any untoward happening, said the SHO.
