While speaking in the workshop conducted for children on Juvenile Justice and Care Act, it was pointed out that Children are the future of our nation and it is the primary responsibility of every citizen including the state’s stake holders to care, support and ensure a dignified and a safe environment for them to live in. In demand of and need of for a legal framework for protection, treatment and rehabilitation of children in need of care for their social development and career enhancement; it has also become the need of the hour to address the alarming rise in juvenile delinquency in India. Keeping in view the need for deliberations on Juvenile Justice Law in India, DLSA Gurugram organized a workshop on ‘Juvenile Justice Act- for stake holders and implementing agencies at grass root level.
The Principal Magistrate Juvenile Justice Board Gurugram, Manglesh Kumar Choubey said that juveniles are to be treated like your child for their rehabilitation in the society and to avoid their interaction with crime and criminals. The juveniles need special care and protection in all aspects and they cannot be confined in the jails but at a safe place. The police officers dealing with juveniles need to be aware about the bail rights, welfare components of the children and to protect them.
In this workshop, nodal officers from all police stations of Gurugram, CWC Chairman Shakuntla Dhull, Ritu from Office of DCPO, Dr. Ajit Diwan from office of CMO, legal aid counsels Dr. Sujan Singh, Sunil Sharma, among others were present.
