With the election season on government departments have become busy with deputing duties for the elections. With regard to Avas Vikas tasks related to acting against illegal constructions and violation of building byelaws have taken a backseat for the time being.
However, the new Joint Housing Commissioner of Meerut Zone, Ajay Kumar Srivastav is optimistic that once the elections are done with the Avas Vikas will act tough against the violators. Srivastav told this journalist that he would soon hold a meeting of the engineering divisions and would prepare a blueprint for taking action against illegalities happening in Vasundhara area.
According to him, as the Avas Vikas is dependent on availability of police force and magistrate to act against illegalities it would take some time before the Avas Vikas could take action.
Before Srivastav his predecessor Mahendra Prasad had promised tough action against illegal constructions and illegal commercial activity but he was transferred out just ahead of elections.
