In a recent order the Supreme Court (SC) has come down hard on Haryana Government head by CM Manohar Lal Khattar wherein as per the SC “the State of Haryana has made certain amendments in Punjab Land Preservation Act, 1900, by virtue of that they are permitting the construction in the forest area and PLPA region also.”
The SC in a previous judgment ahd asked the state to demolish the illegally built structures in Kant Enclave, Faridabad. The SC saw the recent amendment by Haryana as a ploy to save Kant Enclave and other such structures and passed an order. An excerpt of the order said “It was submitted to be a misadventure on the part of the State of Haryana to get rid of the order, in the method and manner it has been done. It was also submitted that forest cannot be permitted to be disturbed like this and no such activities should have been prima facie permitted.”
“Let the copy of the Amendment/Act be placed on record. Let State Government not to act without permission of the Court under the Amendment Act,” said the SC.
The matter has been listed for March 8.
