Delhi: Fire at Karol Bagh hotel claims 9 lives


A huge fire broke out at Hotel Arpit Palace, Karol Bagh in Central Delhi in which 9 persons are feared dead while 3 have been injured. The fire broke out at around 4 am when most people inside the hotel were asleep. Twenty-six fire tenders were pressed into action. The flames suddenly engulfed the floors of the 5-storey building leaving little chance for the guest to escape. Firemen were able to bring the fire under control around 7.30 am. Thirty-five people have been rescued from the hotel. Suffocation was the cause of deaths reportedly. reporter
