Touting it “amongst the first such decision in Uttar Pradesh, 5 school fee complaints decided under New UP Fee Regulation Act by District Fee Regulation Committee, Ghaziabad. Orders issued to all to refund/ adjust excess fees levied from students within a month; Rest school complaints under process,” as per DM Ghaziabad.
The committee taking a stringent view also imposed a penalty of Rs 1 lakh each on 3 schools: Delhi Public School, Indirapuram, Sun Valley International School, Vaishali and Seth Anandram Jaipuria School, Vasundhara. These schools were further prohibited to increase fees for the session 2019-20. These schools will need to return or adjust the excess fees charged.
Notably, the committee as well as the district administration were earlier accused by various parents’ associations of going soft on the public schools; however the latest decision is bound to rattle school managements who thought they would escape scot-free by violating the provisions of UP Fees Ordinance.
