Urban Development Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Suresh Kumar Khanna today laid foundation and inaugurated projects approx. worth Rs 77.17 cr at the Ghaziabad Nagar Nigam (GNN) headquarters in Ghaziabad.
These funds have been provided under 14th Finance Commission and Infra. Development Fund. The projects that are being covered under the funds relate to work across wards at 51 locations, pertaining to dilapidated roads, retaining walls of drains, construction of drains (big & small), interlocking tiles, beautification of green belts, repair of roads due to damage caused by laying of sewer lines among other tasks.
Apart from these projects, under the same funding pattern, the minister said that a further amount of approximately Rs 13.51 cr of funds will be made available for providing potable water as well as laying of new sewer lines.
The minister also unveiled a compost plant for conversion of dry & wet waste near Sai Upwan, near Meerut-T point. The plant has a capacity of 1 tonne. The waste will be converted into compost by sprinkling a culture solution on it. The compost/ manure will be further sold to farmers at affordable rates and the same will be used by the Horticulture Department of GNN for use in its parks.
Minister Atul Garg, all MLAs, Mayor Asha Sharma, Municipal Commissioner, Chandra Prakash Singh, GNN officials and employees, SSP Upendra Kumar Agrawal and a host of other officials were present on the occasion.
