With 2019 already in the works police in upscale localities of Vasundhara, Vaishali, Indirapuram, Kaushambi is already pushing the limits to contain crime. IPS Officer and Addl. SP/CO Indirapuram, Ravi Kumar has dilligently been able to bring down the crime rate under control in these highly vulnerable colonies, mainly due to their proximity to Delhi and a high floating population. Starting January itself the police have detained 6 persons for loot and snatchings in the area- comprising Indirapuram and Khoda police stations.
Ravi Kumar said that enhanced night patrolling, both in terms of the number of hours and more cops has led to a decrease in overall crime rate. For instance a 3-8 am patrolling schedule is also being implemented, apart from other schedules like late-night patrolling.
Kumar said that police in plain clothes have been deployed at strategic locations in the night as during winters several crimes have taken place in night in the past years. So far, it appears that the plan is working well.
Admitting that the task of police has only increased and manpower is always a challenge Ravi Kumar pointed out that cooperation of residents was very important for good policing. He said that RWAs need to install cameras for unauthorised entry and for effective monitoring of their premises. He said the police has been interacting with them and is prepared to work in tandem with collaborating RWAs.
The ASP was also apprised about several youngsters hanging out suspiciously in deserted spots in a few spots at Vaishali and Vasundhara, upon which he promised to take suitable action.
