A dreaded criminal was overpowered and arrested by a team of Kotwali Police Station in Ghaziabad after an exchange of fire on intervening night of Jan 6/7, in which the criminal sustained a bullet injury on his leg while 2 cops were also shot and were later admitted to a hospital. The incident happened near Corporation Bank at Navyug Market.

The police tam was on a routine checking drive at Seth Mukundlal Cut on Hapur Road near Navyug Market when they spotted a car coming from Hapur side. When the occupant of the car was asked to stop he started driving towards Navyug Mrket and rammed his car near the bank even as the police team chased him. The occupant of the car then came out and while running fired at the police team.

The accused was identified as Manoj alias Mintu, a resident of GB Nagar. One Tata Indigo car, one pistol with live rounds were seized from his possession. He is a history-sheeter with at least 18 cases against his name in Delhi-NCR and carried a reward of Rs 50,000 on his head from GB Nagar.
