Municipal Commissioner, Ghaziabad Nagar Nigam (GNN), Chandra Prakash Singh today early morning made a random visit to Kavi Nagar, City, Mohan Nagar and Vasundhara zones to take stock of Swachhata drive on green belts, dividers, roads etc. He also saw first-hand the situation of temporary garbage disposal locations.

At Kavi Nagar Zone the Municipal Commissioner saw that cleanliness was not up to the mark and he directed the sanitation staff to clean up the garbage and asked the zonal chief to see that this is not repeated in future.

At City Zone near the petrol pump under Thakurdwara Flyover, several shopkeepers were found to be dumping garbage cleaned from their shops at this location that found its way to the road making commuting difficult on this stretch; upon which the Municipal Commissioner directed the staff to take action against these shopkeepers and to levy penalty on them. He also asked the staff to take preventive steps against such transgressions.

Singh also visited Vasundhara Zone where he found garbage spread out on green belts, dividers and along roads upon which he directed zonal chief to take immediate measures to clean up the areas and said that garbage disposal and cleaning of these areas should be done on frequent basis. At a park in Seemant Vihar where the GNN had carried out construction activity it was found that the construction debris was lying unattended. Singh instructed Chief Engineer to ask the contractor to remove the debris immediately and to clean the area.

Finally at Mohan Nagar Zone, the Municipal Commissioner found that garbage, silt and debris was lying at various points such as Arthala, Mohan Nagar T-point, Commercial Tax office area etc and he directed the subordinate staff to clean up the area fast. He also directed the zonal chief to penalize those firms and business organizations that had put up illegal hoarding on government and public property, thereby defacing the area and to see that this does not happen again. reporter
